What is the copy editing service?
- The main purpose is to improve the quality of the content by addressing the ‘big picture’.
- Copy editing is a more comprehensive service than proofreading.
- I will also identify and correct errors.

- It’s performed before the proofreading stage.
Why is copy editing important?
- The purpose of any writing is to convey a clear message. Writing that isn’t well structured, doesn’t flow or contains inconsistencies prevents the message being conveyed clearly and accurately.
I will improve the quality of the writing by ensuring:
- the language and tone used is appropriate for its intended readers/target market
- the overall structure and flow works
- consistency in plot, characters, order of events, use of technical terms etc
- variation in sentence length to improve clarity and readability
- consistency of presentation
- there aren’t any continuity errors and style inconsistencies.
I will also identify and correct errors as per the proofreading service.
